Q: Isn’t this how we should greet all our employees – with a little flair and excitement YAHOOO!

A: As it is now February, it is time to shake things up a little especially if you still have a growing laundry list of uncompleted goals from 2022 you are carrying around. Would you believe me if I told you that your employees have the answers to those and many that you are not even aware of yet?

It is true and unfortunate that as we all struggle to cope with the effects of inflation, post-pandamic drains on the supply chain and the constant hunt for employees, we are inadvertently overlooking our most valuable resources. You have employees that are doing their job day in and day out for 7 – 12 hours a day and yet we are looking for a magic ball to improve our businesses.  I learned early on to treat our shop floor employees as the surgeons in the ER and rely on them to say what tools they need to complete their master craft.

I promise you, if you can find an empathetic listener to sit with your most obstinate and your most engaged employees, you will have before you the ultimate key to your profits, productivity and employee morale.  The secret is to let each of them have time and an environment to:

2. Be Heard

Promise me one thing, you will make a list of your top 3 goals for 2023 and then list out your most challenging employees (5-7) and then give Stumped Strategies a call. If you give me 2 days with these folks, we will have a list of solutions for you ranging from Low Effort-High Impact quick wins that can be completed in a week, to smaller scale projects that you can make timing decisions on. Most importantly though, you will have the start of an improvement culture once your 5-7 employees feel heard and empowered to make those small changes that have been festering inside for years.  And secondly, your HR team can take a breath as these 5-7 employees are less likely to be walking out the door in 6 months😊
